As of May 2022, the entry fee to Wadi Rum was 5JD/person. The alternative to paying the entrance fee is to buy a Jordan Pass. If you get the Jordan Pass before you arrive in Jordan, your US visa fee ($56 US) is waived and the Jordan Pass allows access to places like Petra, Shobak Castle, etc.

At the Wadi Rum entrance complex is a Tourism Police office. If you are climbing at Wadi Rum, you are supposed to register with the police and give them a photocopy of your passport. Bringing a spare photocopy to give them saves some time, as they don't have a photocopier of their own.

Description

A short drive from the better known walls and crags within walking distance of Wadi Rum Village, Disi (aka Disa) is also a great place to base your climbing trip.

To reach Disi:
As you approach the Wadi Rum entrance station from the main highway, turn left before the entrance station toward Disi (signs; there's usually a police checkpoint at this intersection). Continue on this road toward the camel racetrack. There are dozens of camps scattered around Disa. For climbing, Obeid's Camp, which is tucked into the rocks only 150 yards from the classic Bedouin Camel Boys is a good option. He has showers, food and beer available there. You can camp in one of his tents, or being your own.

Getting There

For all intents and purposes, much of the climbing potential near Disi is closer to Wadi Rum village than classic climbs like Merlin's Wand and The Haj. From Wadi Rum village drive less than 10km to the little Bedouin village of Disi. The very accessible wall between Obeid's Bedouin Camp and The Camp of Lawrence in Sig Um Tawagi has many great lines. It is incredible to think that the impressive and very visible wall of Al Hasani (Bedouin Camel Boys) was never climbed until late 2006!
