From the Mescalito; Looking towards Lower Bridge Mt.. Can you see a man's face?<br /><br />9/29/09<br />Summiting the Mescalito from Dark Shadows- 11 pitches of really fun, and beautiful climbing. Howling winds, but otherwise a perfect time! Decscended in the dark. Smooth sailing!

9/29/09<br /><br />Heading to the top of Mescalito from Dark Shadows: 2 more pitches to go from this photo.<br /><br /> The last two pitches were a bit dirty, but at least the views, colors, and terrain are beautiful. <br /><br />11 pitches total: 9 clean, the final 2 dirty with some loose rock. <br /><br /><br />We went up from this point, traversed left at the light-colored blocks, and headed up what looks like a wide, low angle chimney to the big tree above. It was doable. <br /><br />FYI: The descent from the top of Mescalito to the "Cat In The Hat" rappels involved downclimbing, exposed scrambling, and some route-finding skills. We did the descent in the dark, but it helped that it was my second time on the summit, and that Jonny had the descent dialed. It would be challenging for 1st time Mescalito summiters to do this descent at night.<br /><br />9/29/09
