Digital Climbing log?

I've been logging my days climbing in composition notebooks for a while now and its not my favorite, or most user friendly system. I am wondering what you guys use to digitally log your climbs. I'm looking to keep track of actual routes, as well as log info on days out with general info like, partners, weather, location, that kind of stuff. I'm thinking my best bet would be to create a Microsoft word template that I could write in and save after every day. What do you guys use? Any advice is appreciated.

I am debating as to whether or not this is a troll post.

There's even a rumor that you can access that MP climbing log on those fancy new pocket computers.

Sorry, maybe I should have clarified further so that people actually took this seriously. Mountain project is NOT what I am looking for. First of all, I want something thats stored on my hard drive. If mountain project disappears, so does my climbing history.

I am also looking for something that acts like a diary. As I mentioned, I don't want to just keep track of routes that I climbed. I want a way to write a paragraph on each day out, log conditions, weather, climbing partners, and make notes for future use. I'm basically looking for a digital climbing diary, NOT just a route tracker... My priority is to write about each day, and having the ability to easily log every climb I've done is an added bonus.

I use Mircosoft Word for lots of things like billing, instructions and lists. I would just write what I needed on a blank page and save it. You can copy it onto a zip drive.

Maybe you want something more fancy like but this works for me.

How about something like Google Drive? You could create a simple spreadsheet, and access it from your computer or mobile device. This gives you a lot of flexibility and you're able to flag documents for offline access as well.

You mention wanting it on your local drive and also concern that MP could disappear. I would be more worried that your local drive would crash or that you might want to reference it while you're away from home. This is where Google Drive would shine.

There are other cloud alternatives (iCloud, Dropbox, Box.com, OneDrive ... etc).

If your mostly wanting to write about your days experience then MS Word but if you want to be able to cross reference details the MS Excel would be better.

Have you considered something like Google Blogger and just keep it private or share with only a select few. You'll be able to access it from everywhere and with anything. The ability to add pics, vids and a whole bunch of other stuff.

use the Tick list. I bet you will start this journal, keep up with if for a bit and then not update it for months...rendering it useless. The Tick list is so easy. Just print a PDF of it once in a while.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
