Devils Gulch

Description

Devils Gulch is the historical spot in which outlaw Jesse James Jumped the 20 foot wide canyon wall to escape the lawmen on his tail. Most the rock here is really shaded and sadly really dirty. The Park is kept up by donations and the City of Garretson.

Getting There

Once you enter Garretson head on the highway towards the John Deere distributor and take a right or if coming in from North a left. The sign will be there also.

Herbs Hump V2 5+  SD : Devils Gulch : Boulder Wall
I first did this route in 2006. Since then many people have done different variations of it. The exact route follows up the right side of the over hang on the wall. The biggest mistake i've seen is people dynoing to the nice ledge hold going up one more move and then jumping down. The original route i put up highballed to the top. Pretty much you get one hold till the dyno the rest is off for this route....[more]   Browse More Classics in SD
