Description

The most easily identified formation in the Park. There are 4-5 good routes to the top, and a massive eye-bolt at the top for your descent.

Getting There

Either hike up the Balanced Rock trail and head East on the East Bluff trail, or hike up the Potholes trail and turn West when you get to the top. The Doorway (as well as Major and Minor Masses) are on a side trail that loops off the main East Bluff trail.

Perhaps the best offwidth at Devil's Lake. Impossible Crack is the very obvious line on the lefthand pillar of Devil's Doorway when viewed from the East. Start up by making a few face moves to gain the perfect (#2 Camalot) handcrack in the two-foot roof. Surmount the roof and climb offwidth to top, using a few small face holds on the right. Do your best not to stand on any of the ledges that are so close and beckoning......[more]   Browse More Classics in WI
