Im looking to develop prompton state park cli
bing area. Maybe a group can meet there one day to
-label routes
-create routes (maybe be the FAs)
-add bolts and chains for top roping
-maybe a short sport route or two
-clear brush so there's enough room at the top to top out
-put the finishing touches on prompton's page- mountainproject.com/v/promp…

Hey, I seem to be a few years late to this post and I live in Philly now, but it would be really nice to see a climbing area with some actual routes and trustworthy bolts, i visit Honesdale often in the summer and would be happy to try and take on this project if you or anybody else in the area would want to set up days on the weekend where we can work to bolt and set some FA's in prompton!

There are no bolted sport routes, but there are a lot of bolts that were used as top rope anchors in the past. I've never personally cleaned and bolted a new route before but I was a Zipline Manager at a large resort up here in PA so I'm not a stranger to drilling and placing bolts. I just reached out to the people who manage the park to see who's permission I would need to just replace some of the old top roping anchors that are rusting and aren't very trustworthy. Hopefully they wont have a problem with me replacing some of the old equipment up there. But Depending on how it goes, if i want to bolt a sport route i would probably reach out to somebody who has some experience and has done it before so i can learn and do it a little bit more safely.

Ever hear back about this? The MP page says that climbing isn't allowed at Prompton, but I can't find anything on the park's website or in their management plan that says that's true.

I was thinking of setting up a TR on a tree anchor to get some laps in next time I'm around
