Descent routes in the hardware database

Although the hardware database allows me to label a bolt a 'lead' 'anchor' 'belay' 'rappel' or 'other' - I don't see a category for descent routes that are not also climbing routes. The rappel off the SW Face of The Wind Tower and the new rappel route on Upper Peanuts are two examples of bolted rappel stations that I need to capture in the database for future record keeping. -But I don't want to screw up the climbing route search by submitting non-climbable descent routes that will end up in search returns.
Should a new category of route be created for descents? (excluded from searches) Each area usually has a verbal description of the descent, and many have a photo with a topo. Making the descent a clickable 'route' might encourage area admins to spruce up their pages with more description/photos and also beef up the hardware database where applicable.
Thoughts?

It's a great idea! I can see a real benefit to including pictures/descriptions of rap stations.

There are some hybrids that might prove challenging. The descent from the bottom of the Naked Edge comes to mind - isn't there one station that's used pretty much exclusively for raps mixed in with anchors for somewhat popular climbs?

You da man, Gregger.

Yeah - programming-wise some of the bolts in the database would need to be 'instanced' rather than 'copied'. That way a descent that splices hardware from multiple routes wouldn't duplicate bolts.
There is already a good bit of duplication in the database (Ruper lists two belay bolts, but Rover lists them as well.)

A pointer is brilliant! I can also imagine a different structure of tables that might get it done.

Disclaimer: My dba creds are ancient and highly suspect. I can see some challenges rolling that out - namely, in the hierarchy of MP users (users, hardware admins, admins, site landlords), who would/should have the necessary privileges to create and modify those fancy records?

Do you have an estimate of how many routes/descents in Eldo share anchors?

There aren't that many duplicate entries. The Hair City and West Buttress belays might be a duplication. There are many omissions. The database entry for Yellow Spur lists just one lead bolt, but the most popular variation has several.
Nick's latest hardware report button has made it much easier to comb through the records using a spreadsheet.
[edit]
'Forbidden Planet' doesn't list the belay/rap bolts. Folks with a 60m rap from there to the top of 'Just Another Girl's Climb' which is a good example of a spliced together descent route.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
