Denver/Red Rocks bouldering in May
|
If I only had 2 days to boulder near Red Rocks in May, what would be the most accessible and fun area to go to? |
|
There is a few worthy problems near red rocks. Look up the millenium boulder in matthews winters park. The bambi boulder has some very hard overhanging stuff too. Nearby, Morrison had plenty of fun boulders, but I wouldn't call it a destination either. Look up the dark side in Morrison. |

Well we would be willing to travel a little bit but would rather stay in and around the Denver/Red Rocks area if possible. |

?How is this place? |
|
If it were me I would check out either Alderfer Three Sisters which is near Evergreen, CO and only approx. 20 min west from Red Rocks see here mountainproject.com/v/alder… the other area would be Flagstaff Mountain in the foothills west of Boulder, CO approx. 25 min North of Morrison see here mountainproject.com/v/flags… both of these areas have minimal approach and a number of problems within your ability range. Have fun. |

At those grades, I would second Three Sisters. The setting is much more enjoyable and will give a taste of the mountains. I enjoy Morrison bouldering, but it's a total urban crag and some of the better problems start at about V5. |

After spending a day in rmnp I quickly learned that I was not as stronger as I thought and spent my trip climbing problems in the same grade as you. Flagstaff was great and it's a perfect place hit for a weekend since the approaches are pretty much nothing. |
