We have been getting rain about every 3 days in Georgia. Not sure what North Carolina has been getting but I was curious of the conditions up and around Brevard the last few days. Any ice? If I'm right Stone Depot faces North and Ive only climbed there in the fall and summer. Whats it like in the winter?

Cold, sunless, probably frozen. If it gets sun, I imagine it will seep. Those storms moving through Ga were hitting the entire East Coast. So they got the same ones. Are you looking for moderate climbing or ice?

climbing. It rains every few days and nothing is dry. Tired of pulling plastic

North by Northwest is usually quick to dry at stone depot, but other than that I would say it would be wet and/or icy, most of the other routes seep for a long time after rain and thats a long way to go for NBNW which is essentially a one pitch wonder. We climbed B52 at the south face of looking glass yesterday and there were several routes that were climbable. You might also consider checking out the south face of cedar rock as there are several good moderate climbs there and I've never noticed much seepage up there when I've visited, its a longer hike than stone depot but an easier hike in my opinion.

The SW face of Cedar is much shorter approach than Stone Depot. It also doesn't have the elevation gain. Things do seep there though, unless your climbing in the 10's and 11's. Tallulah is dry and local to you. There are a few 7's, 8's, and harder. Rumbling Bald is the place to go when things get wet and cold (or Crowders). Check out Currahee also. Lots of top access, sport, and trad climbs.

edit: oh, the other south face of Cedar. I get it now.

South Cedar also runs a bunch as well same as Stone Depot. Went recently, a couple of days after a light rain and virtually all grooves/routes were running. After a heavy rain you'd want to wait a week at least in my opinion.

Temps in the a.m. were high 20s and warmed to low 40s, so some small ice pieces broke off the upper wall although mostly it was just melting/running water. Lots of 5.1-5.4 slab climbing that's unprotected and dry, but the groves were just as bad as I've seen post rain at Stone Depot. FYI, make sure to wear your orange or bright colors, rifle season opened on Thanksgiving and the only person we saw all day on the Art Loeb was a hunter.

Good to know, we climbed there a few weeks ago and it all appeared to be climbable, but perhaps the weather had been drier than I remember...the sun and wind from the past two days should help conditions improve though

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
