So you all know exactly the vehicle I am talking about. We decided to stop blowing money off on rent and take the stipend and the travel adventure lifestyle to the next level. Full time mobile living. The question is which van. Does anyone offer any advice on the make and model. Also please share personal experiences on how much mileage to expect from different makes. Interior rig pics will be much appreciated too.

I think I've found the perfect vehicle for you, since you don't want to do your own research:

There are literally thousands of opinions , websites , and builds out there that detail van setups.

Here is a classic van build from Supertopo:

OK here is the deal. We can do a 20 up to 25 thou vehicle through a bank. Car dealerships don't have your best interests in their mind. We want something we can put major mileage on. Reliable vehicle. Preferably a box type commercial van. Another question. What is the deal with commercial insurance on the van? Will some agencies sell you a non commercial insurance on a commercial vehicle? Which way to go is cheaper?

Craigslist would work if we were buying cash. This is gonna be financed through a bank.

I sold my subaru this last december an bought and astro van, but if your planning on living in it full time you might want something bigger like a sprinter. So far I've been pretty content with it, there absolutely amazing in the snow and have alot of power behind them but the only down side obviously in the gas milage is quite poor. Pretty standard modifications, took the seats out and built a wooden bed with enough room to store bins underneath. Maybe this dosent help you out but I had to share my own "creepy man van".

she gets me where i wanna go

nice, Zac! Thank you for sharing. Sprinter is totally a possibility. We are seriously looking at the Dodge Pro Master.

Having been a banker for 3 years… Banks work with private parties (Craigslist) frequently. The banks take care of ensuring the title is clear/vehicle has never been salvaged as well as ensure you can get temporary plates…

This helps considering you don't trust dealerships. My advice-make a friend at a dealership/autobroker and have them look at your options. Then buy them beer.

Or, better yet, the OP could just educate himself on the workings of a dealership. Sure, car dealers will try to rip you off, but the same is true for most businesses. You just need to learn their tactics so you can call them on their bullshit. You can get a good deal at the right dealership. I paid almost $5,000 below the KBB price on my car, and I got it from a dealer. Google is your friend. You can learn all you need to know about dealership workings on Google.

I think we are going with Pro Master. From our conversaions with the sales guy it sounds like it could be his own pipe dream so to say. Hopefully we will still be able to blend in at camp Curry! haha

You're a shortcake, but good luck for your fella standing up in that thing. Living in one with no poptop or raised roof = PITA.

That looks sweet, you smelly hippy you.

I am jealous.

When will you begin to antagonize the old people again?

That was fun.

M Mobley · · Bar Harbor, ME · Joined Mar 2006 · Points: 911

but if you antagonize them too much they become obsessed w/you so be careful or the boys will gang up and declare a boys only forum

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
