Hi guys,

So im looking for a crash pad. after lots of research ive got it narrowed down to the 2 listed in the title. the main reasons being; im looking for a pad sub $200, at least 4 inches of foam, can carry a decent amount of gear, and doesn't have a standard hinge. im kind of leaning towards the R3 because of the baffle, multi hinge design that will conform to anything and that the foam is recycled and can be restuffed any time. however I know that organic has the better quality foam. I would appreciate any input. also I am open to any other pads out there as long as they fall into the aforementioned criteria.

Thanks all
Kurt

Purchasing new foam for a worn out Organic pad is pretty trivial. I'd be pretty surprised if any MadRock product outlasted an organic pad, but maybe they've stopped cutting quality to undercut their competition. I'd also be pretty surprised if, over the life of the product, you spent less on replacing MR foam than you did on replacing Organic foam.

I love my organic pads. They are one of the few American-made crash pads still on the market.

buying any pad other than organic is simply a waste money.

Looking at the madrock website, the R3 is 18 pounds. So that baffle design is adding about 6lbs to the overall pad.

Buy the Organic. There's absolutely zero reason to buy the R3 over the Full Pad. Organic's foam, shell, customer service, construction and versatility are all lightyears ahead of what you'll get with the R3.

sounds like I should go with organic. one bonus is I live a few hours from the factory so I can go pick it up. I know the full pad is already a great deal but just for curiosity has anyone ever seen their stuff go on sale?

I don't think I've ever seen a sale per se. If you follow/friend Organic on facebook, you might catch wind of some deals (overstock, that sort of thing).

You absolutely have to make arrangements, since he doesn't have a store front to speak of, but yeah, he's been pretty cool about pickups.

Yep. Should be a comment field or something. If not, you can email them/message them on Facebook. Josh is a pretty cool cat, and if Mike's around, the stoke is pretty infectious.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
