Ridiculous! There are many routes much more deserved than Pistol Pete.

I agree Chris. I'm unsure as to how the list was built. But it seems like the mag is just trying to up its sales.

Same issue of the magazine has their guide to the New River Gorge. This magazine came the day I left for the Craggin Classic at the NRG. It was held at the AAC Campground... They don't even mention the AAC as a place for climbers to camp. Apparently I should have camped at someplace called Chestnut Creek?

Hmm... maybe THAT's why nobody showed up to the Craggin Classic and it was such a lame party :)

Isnt that the same magazine that called Disneyland at the gunks one of the best trad routes in the country? The one that we climb by clipping only fixed gear...

Leonids (el cajon mountain) also made the list and I believe it does deserve the title, thoughts?

Evidently no one has realized that the rag has dumbed itself down to the lowest common denominator ( aka, entry level gym climber) in this classics selection, and in general.. but On an overview, I believe that that this could be applause worthy...? Both R&I and Climbing have been increasingly offering much more basic 101 style info to the readers which I think is a good move in that all these kiddos swarming from the gym to the crag have no mentors.. no one to tell them where to shit, not to tick, mute the music and leave fido at home. All that said... hey, send these folks to pistol pete, and anything else at Holcomb. Keep the other stuff to the folks that do the work to find it. Fortune goes to the climber that searches out the stars, tries all the routes and finds the gems by way of sweat and beer.

Man, am i the only one that loves pistol pete? I think it was my first 5.10 lead. Now whether it's one of the top 100, i'm probably not qualified to say

It means we were sitting at south ridge drinking beers and laughing at how dumb you sounded after we just finished climbing revelation by headlamp. Sounds like your the gym climber and btw the title is the best 100 'sport' climbs not the best route the fact that you don't think pistol Pete or Leonids is a great moderate "sport" climb makes you the noob

wowwwwwwww. Wound a little tight guys? If one goes back and actually reads my post, you may find that I never actually cast any specific judgement on Pistol Pete ( Or Leonids ) My post was commentary on what the magazines are up to these days in regards to helping educate the influx of mentor-less gym climbers. I would have thought that was a good thing no? Thanks for the accusations, but I'm of this mind because I had a mentor 15+ years ago so I get the need for education such as the BD Rock Project et al. Even though it seems "dumbed down" to long time climbers like myself who can count on one hand my gym visits. In regards to commentary on Pistol Pete, Im pretty sure I gave it the 2 stars that it deserves and it appears most agree. Its a good climb, maybe even a classic for the Pinnacles, but not the States. Hand J. Im sorry that you end your climbing day by reading MP forums, that sounds boring....but these "accusations and generalizations" seem to be lobbed from your post Suicide bivy. Again guys, read. Justin- punctuation and grammar are key to written communication. I was simply confused by the context of your post. Alex! Its been too long! Miss you bro! Hope you all have a good evening- Respectfully-
