Getting ready for the first ice climb of the 07/08 season.

I agree. Lots of fun. Great people and fun indoor dry-tooling. Thanks to The Rock for acknowledging us ice and mixed climbers. Thanks to Mtn.Chalet, Petzl, and BD as well.

In a zoo in California, a mother tiger gave birth to a rare set of triplet tiger cubs. Unfortunately, due to complications in the pregnancy, the cubs were born prematurely and due to their tiny size, they died shortly after birth.

The mother tiger after recovering from the delivery, suddenly started to decline in health, although physically she was fine. The veterinarians felt that the loss of her litter had caused the tigress to fall into a depression. The doctors decided that if the tigress could surrogate another mother's cubs, perhaps she would improve.

After checking with many other zoos across the country, the depressing news was that there were no tiger cubs of the right age to introduce to the mourning mother. The veterinarians decided to try something that had never been tried in a zoo environment. Sometimes a mother of one species will take on the care of a different species. The only "orphans" that could be found quickly, were a litter of weaner pigs. The zoo keepers and vets wrapped the piglets in tiger skin and placed the babies around the mother tiger.
thx to Alex for the hard work that went into some good lines.

Thank you for all the positive feedback everyone. There is nothing better than seeing people enjoy the routes. I'm thinking we'll probably change out the dry tool routes every two months and have a mini-comp evening each time to "break them in". The current routes will stay up during the in-between, so if you have a route you wanted to keep working, or just want the preperation for ice season, come on down.

Mark,

I plan on climbing Wednesday night (as usual). I just bought some new tools so I'll definitely be playing around on the dry tool routes.

I put in an order for more dry tool holds, but have not received them yet. As soon as they are in, I was planning on setting a bunch of new routes and calling people together for a night of friendly competition. I'll keep you posted.

We finally got the new dry tool holds in. We'll be trying to get some of the route setters together in the next week to reset a good number of routes. As soon as they're up we'll set up an informal gathering to try out the new routes, and finish up with some free beer and reminiscing over this years ice season.

Looks like Gerald got the link to directions posted in his reply. Let me know if you have any other questions. Hopefully I'll have a date for the gathering soon.

Here is the news!
We will be having the dry-tool/beer night next Sunday April 27th, from 6:00 to 10:00.
The cost will be $14 for the day pass, which will get you plenty of dry-tooling, free beer, and free pizza. As per our, "don't drink and belay" policy, beer will be available for those of age when they have had their fill of dry-tooling and are ready to kick back on the couch. It also makes our insurance company and lawyers less nervous.
Shoot a response to this thread if you plan on coming so we can plan accordingly.
See you all soon!

Dude, I would definitely come, if it weren't for the fact that I'm leaving the very next day for 3 fun filled weeks in Arkansas (Jonesboro) for work. :(

I hope you guys do this again soon, as I am definitley interested! Thanks for the offer.

If those Boulder folks don't kill me in an avy, I may just show up and display my pizza eating skills. Though, I can't promise I'll have much sympathy for the insurance adjuster.

If I don't find someone to carpool with, I'm only 50% interested.

Anyone want to go to Jackson Creek area during the day and hit the ice comp on the way home?

What a deal! I may come only for the pizza and beer! I figure I could really do some damage to the beer & pizza supply between 6 and 10! I wouldn't even bother to climb :-)
