Will be in Boulder in august and looking to camp a day or two near the satellite boulders, any recommendations for campgrounds?

Thanks,
Brooks

ha...sorry I have to laugh. You mean within a half hour correct? There isn't any camping per say in Boulder for the most part. Truthfully I think there are WAY better places to climb and camp in the relative area.

This thread may help a little...

Thanks Scott. The reason we choose that area I guess is because we will only be in boulder four days and since I really can't do any trad and not much sport, bouldering is the next best thing (however we will be doing some TR'ing). If you have any suggestions for better climbing nearby in the flatirons it would be much appreciated.

I'd probably try to make it up to the Lyons area one day, maybe dragons den, lions den and big elk meadows:

morrison area one day, especially if you've never seen Red Rocks Amphitheater:

And sure hit the satellites or flag one day too. You'll see what I'm talking about as far as camping goes when you get here. Pretty tight!! But that previous thread should show some local camping. If you camp up near Lyons there is considerably more places in the national forest.

Thanks a bunch for all the help. Our plan so far is to spend a day at the flatirons, a day at flagstaff, and a day at eldorado, but this is probably going to change a million times before we go. We also might try to hit multiple places (say, FI and Eldo) in one day to allow time to go to Lyons and Morrison.

If you're going to be here in Aug, I would highly recommend thinking about heading up to elevation. There are plenty of good bouldering areas near Estes Park, mainly in RMNP (upper and lower chaos) and the camping would be much more convenient... though you may want to get on the reservation process since weekends can fill up quickly.
Just my 2 cents but it's freak'n hot down in the Front Range proper that time of year for climbing.
good luck w/ the trip,

If your cool with hauling camp gear in for 3.5 miles, you can camp a stones throw away from the excellent bouldering in mt Evans. Otherwise camp dick has a great camp ground right near the boulders. Both are about 45-60 mins from boulder and excellent in August.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
