Hi, I wanted to take a newbie up on some ice to let them try it. Does anybody have a recommendation for an area that meets at least most of the following requirements?

1.)Short approach
2.)Easy ice
3.)top-ropable
4.)not incredibly crowded

thanks,
-josh

Don't know where you are from but here in the Springs, there is short easy ice in Cheyenne Canon. Drive up to Helen Hunt falls area. I don't know how "in" it is cause I haven't been there at all this "winter" (like we've had one here). I have done solo laps on it in the past and got bored. It's maybe 40 feet high with easy to set topropes. Easy approach too. I have never seen it crowded except for maybe 3 other people. I have seen local guides bring clients there.
I think last year or the year before someone tried some ice farming up there. It made it a lot better, but I think the city made him take it down cause it was a liability(??)(someone correct me if I am wrong on this.)
Hope this helps.

What happens when you:
1) have nothing to do
2) own a sharp knife
3) have a large lime
4) own a patient cat
5) drink too much tequila
6) and it's football season?

(An e-mail I received; just know that no cat was harmed in the carving of this lime. Dogs Rule!!)

I'd just bite the bullet & go up to Lincoln Falls with a few people. The right side (the flows to the right of the Scottish Gully) works for what you are needing to do.
