This was one of the anchor bolts!  When taking into account the washers and chain, the stud was in the stone about 1/2".  However I am sure the silicon had some adhesive value:) <br /> <br />The anchor has been replaced courtesy of ASCA.

Looks like the area activists need to go investigate other anchors by " W. Peterson & L. Hadfield" placed around 1992.

To answer Mike's question, it was screwed into a sleeve which was somehow installed into the rock. Couldn't really tell what was holding the sleeve in place. Magic maybe?
