The Dillon Pinnacles.

Description

The Dillon Pinnacles were formed from volcanic activity millions of years ago. Everyone I've talked to about them has said that they would be crap to climb on. I finally checked them out myself, and they are no worse then the Fishers. Pony up people!
The Dillon Pinnacles seem to offer tons of free climbing objectives on spires.

Many of these must have been climbed before. If you have any information about the climbing history of the Dillon Pinnacles, I would love to hear it.

Getting There

Drive about 20 miles west from Gunnison on US Hwy 50. There is a sign, bathroom and parking lot for the Dillon Pinnacles on the north side of the bridge. Walk down the side road for about 100 yard and then follow the obvious trail on your right.

Walker and I went back later in the summer of '08 and tried to climb a steeper line on a different tower, but after multiple tries decided the rock was too bad (suprise!). We climbed something less cool looking on the other side of the tower and left a slung anchor on top. I would still say that there are a lot of good routes to be had in the area, but it might take some looking to find them. Maybe instead of good routes I should say "adventure climbs".
