BETA PHOTO: The Shenanigans in order to get over to Brennivin ...

Description

Clever, dry, and borderline humorous way to get to/from base of Brennivin, back to the other side, via the high tyrol. Surprisingly, this takes less time than approaching Brennivin by wading the creek.

The route in itself is kind of fun and interesting. Plenty easy to do with pack and tennies.

Protection

1/2-dozen draws or more. 60m works fine for this.

Here's how it works...

Straightforward, but if it still sounds confusing:

1. climb tree.
2. tryol across.
3. yard on the handline left to bolted belay scoop of Rhett Wench (RW).
4. climb P1 of RW but keep going left and traversing to far anchors (fixed biner here). 'Green' path in picture. 8 bolts.
5. partner lowers you to the ground of the Brennivin area.
6. bring your partner over.

To go back, climb Shenanigans, 5 bolts, (pink path in picture) to RW anchors (thread rope through chains) and get lowered back to the scoop. Bring your partner over.

This makes the approach to Brenivin very easy... heck we were able to climb this both ways in flip flops/ Chacos in under 10 mins. Pretty good way to add a little more to your warm up before hopping on the roof, or other routes on left creekside.

Only climbed to the 3 bolts, on our way left, but what a great 5.6! (That black rock is tremendous.) We rap'd down left and did the Rumplemintz area routes. (It's 96 feet straight down to the river this time of year.) Another very good 5.5/6 back up to rap down to the tyrolean.

Spruced up Shenanigans today. Added chains with fixed biners (please do not remove!) to the anchor left of Rhett Wrench. So you can climb Rhett Wrench pitch 1, bust left at the anchor, clip one more bolt, then clip the fixed biners and lower to the shore.

Also added a belay bolt on the shore side to keep your belayer in place while you get lowered back to the fixed rope.

Enjoy!
