Self-portrait in the Northwest Gully of Sharkstoot...

Description

On the west side of Sharkstooth as seen from The Gash lies a short but steep winter snow climb. It's neither a distinctive feature nor a destination, but it's a fun little jaunt in a magnificant location, giving the climber amazing views of both the Andrews Creek drainage and the Sky Pond Cirque.

Location

Head up toward Andrews Glacier and turn left into the Gash toward Sharkstooth. I climbed the right-hand gully immediately next to the spire, but there are a couple variations to the right (west). I call it a gully rather than a couloir since it's not as distinct as a typical couloir.

Protection

It's a good solo, but can be protected with either pickets or a light rock rack.

I reached this point by climbing a couloir up the south side, and after a short downclimb here, skied this line. Indeed a fun place to play.
