A fun little jaunt when in the vicinity of the First Flatiron, Macbeth can be seen poking curiously out of the trees between the First and Second when viewed from Chautauqua or even down in town. This is a great spot to sit and take in the view of the First and an easy scramble for the neophyte Flatiron climber.
Getting There
Approach as for the First Flatiron, but instead of heading all the way to the base, continue up and left, as if you're heading for the routes along the south edge. After you switchback to the right, and sense that you are roughly as high as the Witch's Cabin, look through the trees for a low angle bit of rock whose summit is visible. This is Macbeth. This is a short one, so either gain the nadir as low as possible in order to maximize your scrambling, or hike up another bend in the trail to gain the distinct face. Head up on easy ground and walk off the back.
