BETA PHOTO: Tree slab from north view

Description

This slabby boulder is located just below the Beer Barrel boulder and offers slab traverses as well as a few easy highball climbs up crimps and cobbles. The climbing routes are on the west face of this climb and it is distinguished by a tree growing close to the middle of this face. The climbs can be descended by downclimbs to either side of where the routes top out.

Getting There

Approach as for the Beer Barrel boulder and look for the large slab just S and E (15-20 feet) with the tree near the base at the middle.

This was one of the first areas that I went to in Flagstaff. I had already been climbing hard for two days, so we needed a break day. Obviously Flagstaff is not exactly finger friendly, but the routes at Tree Slab are easily manageable by about any climber. I don't know of route names or even how the lines go but they are all fun. Probably no more than V1 on anything (if that). A good photo op exists from the top looking down from the top of the problems. I'll try to add some photos later. Have a great time linking some of them together. Late

I was up there today and someone has spray painted in 1' tall green letters just to the left of tree slab traverse. One more in a long series of vandalisms at Flagstaff - this one of the more damaging I've seen.
