DescriptionYes there is an actual boulder in Boulder Canyon. Shaded, bullet rock and at least three hard problems. It isn't very big but it's well worth a visit. The major drawback is crossing the river but bouldering season usually means the water is low. Getting ThereDrive west on CO 119 7.2 miles from the intersection of Arapahoe and Canyon to a pullout near a cliff called the Inca Stone. Don't go past the sign reading "Boulder Falls 1000 feet. Look directly across the river for a low boulder in the trees. Crossing the river might be easier upstream, near another pullout on the south side of the road. There are four, maybe five distinct problems. Most people will want to try the Graham aretes. The rounded egg-like one just left of a short corner is supposed to be V10. The other arete just left of a steep clean wall is V11. Whatever the grade, both look a lot easier than they are. The Amendment V10-11 CO : Boulder Canyon : ... : Freedom Boulder
The Amendment is just above Boulder Falls 50 feet from the waters edge and 75-100 yards from the falls. The problem traverses into an existing boulder problems called Freedom. Start on the left side of the boulder and traverse on bad slopers into Freedom. Finish Freedom. Freedom is rated V10, with the Amendment being more difficult, so the 10/11 grade is given.
