When you guys clip fixed gear, specifically fixed cams, do you clip the sling? or do you clip the thumbloop/wire?

It makes more sense to me to clip the thumbloop, as it will not as readily deteriorate as the nylon sling will.

Depends on the gear I am clipping into.

fair enough. I guess that is almost always the answer to every question on this forum. It depends

That brings up a question why even have slings on cams with wired thumb loops?

BD C4s lose 2kN strength when clipped through the wire. I would take that over iffy nylon.

Most of the time I would clip the sling after a quick inspection. How is clipping the sling on a fixed cam different from clipping a draw (which has a sling) on a permadraw left in a cave? I make my choice after an inspection.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
