| Does anyone know of volunteer/internships positions with YOSAR or a similar organization either state side or abroad that would be medically related? 1st year med student trying to find something to do this summer besides climb and travel. Edit: I have background experience as a climbing guide but no direct WFR/EMT cert. Cheers T | FLAG |

| You might have already found this info, but if not: www.nps.gov/yose/parkmgmt/sar_jobs.htm - YOSAR volunteer program. www.nps.gov/yose/supportyourpark/volunteer.htm - General Yosemite volunteer info. I only know about them because I was checking into similar kinds of opportunities a while ago; I have no direct experience, so someone else might know a lot more about these kinds of things. I do know, however, that almost any good guiding/search and rescue operation will require WFR/EMT. And if you're looking for wilderness medicine opportunities, they will probably be a must. Good luck in your search! | FLAG |

| Check out Friends of YOSAR's website. It includes all the relevant application info. www.friendsofyosar.org/yosar_jobs/yosarJobs.html Also, most people don't know this yet, but Yosemite Medical Clinic is no longer operated by Tenet Healthcare. It is now operated by the NPS, with staffing from the US Public Health Service. They have allowed med students and PA students to shadow and volunteer during the busy season, as it seems to be a good experience with both primary and urgent care. Their contact info is here: www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/ymc.htm If you're serious about it, it's a great way to spend a month (or a few). Hope this info helps. | FLAG |
