| I recently came across a reference to these pants on an internet forum and checked them out due to the posters positive comments on them.
I was pretty impressed and bought a pair and now think I will never climb in anything else dueing hot days at the crag!
FUNCTIONAL INFO:
The material is a cotton/spandex that is way stretchy, rugged and comfortable to wear. The crotch is gusseted and movement in them is great. These pants are sized by waist and come in "long" for a limited number of waist sizes which is really nice for us tall guys.
(rant- why do some "climbing" clothes only get longer when the waist size goes up? I just don't see that many fat climbers out there??!!??)
Finally, the white color is great out in the sun. Simply brilliant. Other functonal tidbits- integrates belt with fastec buckle works well. Fly is fastened with snaps which actually is pretty handy if you have your harness on and need to pee (guy advantage only of course). One other word about the fly- it is actually long enough to be useful unlike gramicci and prana flys (see guy caveate above).
STYLE INFO
On the stylistic side, these are simple pants with no bells and whistles. The stitching is with gold thread which actually looks OK on the white but Im not exactly fashion-inclined so caveate emptor. The pockets are deep and have mesh on one side. The back pocket has a discreet logo and is closed with a permanently sewn down flap over the opening. Probably secure enough for a wallet.
The web site is: www.stonemastergear.com and the price is $62, not cheap but these, in my opinion, are worth it. I personally like them better than any climbing pants Ive ever owned.
If anyone else has checked these out Id be interested to see what you think! | |
