Cilo Gear 20L Work Sack
Hi, I am Lynn S and I have a pack addiction. I am powerless over a good-looking pack, so when I saw the Cilo Gear 20L Work Sack, it stirred something within me; you know the feeling all you fellow gear addicts out there.
After twenty plus years of pack addict behavior I can honestly say that this pack is worth checking out. I got my hands on the Work Sack back in mid-August and it has delivered time and time again. It has joined me on adventures up Hallets and the Spearhead in the Park, new routing in Glenwood Canyon, into and out of the Black Canyon and a variety of other outings. The Sack has been a perfect companion for all of these trips.
Is It Big Enough?
When my friend Josh showed me his 20L it looked perfect for carrying on multi-pitch routes and it has delivered time and again. Stop one was the Park, I hid my Work Sack away in my bigger pack for approach and then brought it out as we prepared to rope up on the Spearhead. The thing swallowed up my descent shoes, water, snacks, rain shell, extra layer and a small first aid kit!
I found that it carries very nicely on route. It is designed to ride between the shoulders and it does just that. Even in tight spaces it has stayed out of the away allowing me to climb without hindrance. There is no waist belt, but this can easily be rigged if one is so inclined.
Happy on top of the Spearhead with my Cilo Pet
Durability?
So far the pack is holding up well; stitching is solid, pack body materials are taking a beating and still look unscathed. Recently a couple of us were working on a new line in Glenwood Canyon mountainproject.com/v/color… and the Work Sack was with us every step of the way; on our backs, being hauled, lowered, etc., it made it through the process still looking great.
Simplicity!
It is a bag with a lid (no storage), it does not get much more simple than that. Two features I like are a small internal zip pocket and external side mesh pockets. The side pockets are great for snacks, light gloves, hat and so forth. They are made of a stretchy mesh that still holds gear even when the main part of the sack is stuffed.
Ready to start up in the Black; carried the rack, runners, water, first aid kit, and extra layer in the 20L!
I had specific uses in mind for this pack and I have not been disappointed. It has done exactly what I had hoped for and did not exhaust my wallet, the 20L Work Sack comes in at 50 bucks cilogear.com/20lws.html . As with all Cilo gear products the 20L is handmade in Portland, Oregon. Plan ahead and get yours ordered today!
