Help Me Mr. Wizard 5.11c, Granite Mountain, AZ James Q Martin Collection.

In your opinion and experience, what size drill bit would you want for a perfect longlife placement?

Convict Lake and Laurel Mountain, Sierra Eastside.

12mm drillbits only.

Firstly because Petzl recommends it and secondly because a 1/2" bit is 12.70mm not 12mm. In a pinch you might get by with some worn 1/2" bits, but best to do it right the first time and use the right tools for the job.

Actually saying that because I have placed a couple dozen with a 12mm bit, and a 1/2" bit will not work. Ask Greg Barnes with the ASCA about 1/2" holes with Petzl Long lifes.....
