ah, you know i hate to plug rc.com on this site, but hey, i'm going up to salt lake in a couple of days to cover the OR show, so i figured some of you may want to see whats new and shiny in the world of climbing gear.

anyway, starting Saturday morning, check the front page of rc.com for live blogs from the show- three days of fun and gear happiness!

also, if you want me to stop in and check anything in particular, post up. i will be stopping by every major climbing gear manufacturer for sure, and most of the popular outfitters for climbers. i'll check this thread as well as rc.com for things to ask people about!

Cima Margherita and Cima Tosa in the Dolomiti di Brenta. October 1977.

I look forward to your reports! I don't have a specific question right now, but I just wasted some time looking for the specs of some ropes. There's quite a few manufacturers that could do a better job with their web sites. The worst of all is Millet's, which does not even list the diameters of the ropes. The most annoying is Sterling's, which insists on resizing your browser's window--though the information is there.

I like (and visit more often) those sites that both offer synoptic tables and allow you to download product documentation. So, if you could drop a few hints, it would be great.

hell begins in 15 hours when "the drive" starts.

If it weren't for XM radio and Red Bull the 7.5 hours it takes to get there would be interminable!

Jack, you need to up the Red Bull content. I get there in 6 1/2 hours...

BTW, anyone need a ride out tomorrow? To SLC I mean. Coming back on the following Thursday after 2 days in the Uintas.

I don't have a radar detector. Damn things never work when you need them...

My stereo is stock but I have Cormac McCarthy's "The Road" on my iPhone, though.

So Mal......

Do you go north via Wyoming or south via 1-70?

Your copy of "The Road' might trump my XM radio......

Go I-80. It's at least an hour faster and there a fewer cops. Average road speed up there is 85. Stones collection isn't bad. I have the complete U2 collection... I used to have the complete Clash but dumped it except for the favorites. Got too annoying...

Yes, I am trying to start a riot.

Pitch 7

Thanks for posting up about the trade show... look forward to your reports.

If you get a chance ask please ask JB at Acopa about a real big wall boot. The Maximus is a big disappointment if you ask me. It just doesn't have the support.

Drive safe everyone.

Cheers.
