Whos got some experience with these boots? Im real interested in them and have a few questions. Seems like theres isnt alot of info out about them yet.

Im looking for a new boot for Ice/Alpine climbing, and am wondering about the warmth of these, they advertise them as being light (and Im a ounce counting weenie) but what about warmth?

I might see myself climbing in Alaska someday but these would most likely see VERY little of that kind of temps. If possible I would like to where them as a summer heavy backpacking boot as well. (Again that wouldnt be too often, more like when Im humping in a load of gear for a backcountry wall and less of a weekend hiker).

Im really just getting into WI and currently have a older pair of Scarpa Alphas for Ice, and a newer pair of Scarpa Baruns for backpacking. Id probally end up selling both of these boots in hopes of replacing them with the Mamooks. Thoughts?

Also while looking at them in the local shop, I noticed they have a fairly radical asymetrical shape to the toe box, similar to a climbing shoe. Now the only size the shop had was a size too small for me so it was hard to get any real feel for them but has any noticed any negative fitting in the toe box, specifically for us morton toe mutants?

Thanks alot guys,

Mike

I have a pair of Raichle All Degree Pro boots, which are probably pretty similar. The Raichle line of boots was rebranded as Mammut last year. It looks like they did a bit of redesigning too, besides just changing the name, but they still look pretty similar. The Raichles that I have are great boots, very lightweight and durable.

I'm not sure how much insulation they have, but I would suspect that aren't as warm as a more insulated leather boot, like the LS Nepals. Maybe not the best for long days of ice climbing in cold places or overnights.

I don't know if it is relevant at all, but I have a near morton toe, and haven't had problems, also the arch is much lower than on my scarpa omegas, which are the same as your alphas.

It is going to be tough to find any info about those, not such a popular brand of footwear in the states it seems, in addition to being so new.
