Climbing shoe History

It would be interesting (at least to me) to know the history of the development of rock climbing shoes starting with the advent of sticky rubber - and all the developments as they came along. Board lasted to slip - first slingshot rand - first "slipper" - advent of velcro closures - etc etc. Maybe this already exists in article form but my "google fu" was too weak to find it. Any help???
