Climbing real rocks in Dubai?

I'll be in Dubai for some work later this month and have a few days off. Anyone have info about outdoor climbing in the area?

I went to Oman when I was there, some cool sport climbing, about a 2hr drive.

A little bit off subject but can you share some logistics of work gigs in Dubai with significant other? Life on compound, how to play by the rules, women's status etc. etc.

RE the climbing scene in and around Dubai. I consulted there with Emirates Airline IT last year from January to May. I can put you in touch with some of the locals (most of them ex-pats from all over the world). It's a good scene. There's good sport climbing along the border between UAE and Oman and some great deep water soloing also in Oman. There's a good outdoor gym in Dubai on the side of an apartment block where you can get to know many of the climbers. Private mail me and I'll send you some beta and see what contacts I can make for you.

Still waiting to hear back from one lead on a climbing partner. Will be traveling with a sport climbing kit. Looking for potential partners to climb real rocks 1/23, 24, and 25.
Responsible safe climbing instructor. Will pitch in Dirhams for gas.
