EDIT | DELETE My wife and I just got into climbing about a year ago. We live on the island of Maui in Hawaii. We are having a tough time finding good rock on Maui. We usually go over to Oahu to climb. It would be great to find some good places to climb on Maui without having to fly over to Oahu every time we want to climb. Does anyone out there know of any climbing routes, top roping, etc. on Maui? I've read some old dicussions from 2009 about climbing in Maliko Gulch and top roping in Kaupo but I don't have any specifics. If there is some one out there from Maui that climbs it would be great to hook up with you and do some climbing.

Well I've got bad news:(, I've spent a bunch of time on Maui there are potential crags but there are locals that will not let you near the crags, and if you do the locals will still break into your car and chase you out, you can get permission to (hike) to some of the cliffs, but it's almost like they hate when white people even if you live on the island go venturing off the paved roads. Check out the red stone west of Hana along the old highway going up toward the resorts
