Climbing on Maui

My wife and I just got into climbing about a year ago. We live on the island of Maui in Hawaii. We are having a tough time finding good rock on Maui. We usually go over to Oahu to climb. It would be great to find some good places to climb on Maui without having to fly over to Oahu every time we want to climb. Does anyone out there know of any climbing routes, top roping, etc. on Maui? I've read some old dicussions from 2009 about climbing in Maliko Gulch and top roping in Kaupo but I don't have any specifics. If there is some one out there from Maui that climbs it would be great to hook up with you and do some climbing.

Would you like it on a train?
Would you like it in the rain?

I would not eat it with a goat.
I would not eat it in a boat.

Wink,I know some places to climb here on Maui and we should get
together and check um out.
I also know several other people that I surf and wave sail with that have a vast amount of climbing experience that might like to go along as well.
I also checked out this wall over on the S/E side that could be a first ascent project if you're interested. Cheers, Olaf
BTW: I sent you my phone number so give me a call.

Turd Ferguson! wrote: No problem. Enough with J Hazard. A serious poet like yourself needs to dump his slave name. And keep updating the blog, yo! I was psyched to read that you started getting serious about climbing in April and even started leading. Then I looked and saw that you have 500 posts on mountainproject. I have no idea why anyone would say this site is dominated by noobs trying to fluff themselves and giving terrible advice. Keep up the good work, J Hazy!
Yeah I dunno why people make such absurd claims, look at yourself. I mean I know where to go for advice and that is the Turd. The guy knows about poetry, he knows about climbing.

Me I agree I post way too much on here, but most of it is crap like this page. Just useless drivel. Shoot I think 250 of those posts went to rock and resole alone. Kind of pathetic.

There is no established climbing on Maui as far as I know. However, there is potential, you could bolt routes. Send an e-mail to bugman@climbaloha.com and ask him if he knows of anything.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
