Possibly moving to Reno in a few months. Can anyone give any feedback on good places to climb that are in the area?

Reno is a good location for a climber. Most of the Tahoe area climbing areas are as close or closer than if you lived in Sacramento. Plus you are closer to the east-side areas. Do a little research and you find you are going to have it pretty good climbing-wise.

Find the local TnT group and get in on the local action. Not sure where reno guys go but every town I've lived in has a version of the TnT bouldering group and at least one or two into FAs. That means local most of the time and secret for a while.

I'd start here mountainproject.com/v/somer…
every Tusday and Thursday. But that was just based on one internet search.

I used to live in Reno, and its a great place to be a climber. Tahoe crags range from 45 minutes (Donner) to about an hour and a half (Lovers Leap, Eagle Lake, etc.). Bishop and the Owens River Gorge take about 3.5 hours driving, I used to go down every weekend in the winter, lots of free camping. For alpine stuff in the summer your about 4.5 hours from Whitney, and obviously closer to stuff north of there. When you can't find a partner you can boulder up at Tahoe, lifetime worth of blocks.
