Ciao! I am from Montana and am spending the month of August in the town of Sarzana and am looking to climb some italian limestone. The guidebook for muzzerone appears to be out of print.. I would pay many euros for a copy or would be indebted eternally if someone could loan me a copy. I would love to boulder around the area as well but have had bad luck finding a used crash pad as i could not bring my rope gear and a crash pad across the pond. Get in touch if you wish to climb or can help me out in any way! Gratzi!

Ciao Andrew,

I don't know if I can help you with a printed guide, but I found this website to be very reliable and detailed (it's from the local climbing school):
scuoladiarrampicatamuzzeron…

I lived in the States for many years but I've been living in Viareggio for about 3 years now (in northern Tuscany not far from Muzzerone). I've climbed at Muzzerone once, so I don't know it well, but the one time I was there I climbed an awesome 3-pitch route which I would very gladly climb again and I remeber exactly how to get to it.

Anyhow I'd be happy to show you around the place.

Let me know,

Marcello

Ciao!!!! Thank you so much for replying i didn't expect someone to reply at all let alone so quickly! I found that website before but until now i did not realize it had so much information on it about the routes. Thanks again that will be very helpful. My mother has an italian cell phone that you could reach me at most of the time. The number is 3665381781. If she picks up just ask for me. I actually have never done a multi pitch route but i think i am halfway competent in the concepts and have a very rough understanding of anchoring systems. If you wouldn't mind teaching me enough to get to the top safely i would be very interested in repeating the multi pitch you speak of. Or if you do not feel comfortable with me as your partner i have done countless single pitches so we could just stick to that. I have been climbing for 4 years now and work as a route setter at the university gym in Montana. I did hurt my knee last year as well as pulled my A2 Pulley in april so i am not climbing has hard as i like but like to think i could get to the top of most 5.10s and a few 5.11s. The gear i have is a 70m 9.8 rope still in great condition, 16 quick draws, harness and personal anchor system + a few bail beaners. I did not bring any slings for equalizing an anchor. Let me know on here or give me a call if you are interested and we will try to work something out. Thanks again and sorry for writing an essays worth of info!

Andrew
