Climbing in China

Hi all,

I'm Christine, a college student from Colorado. I'm going to be studying abroad in Shanghai from March-June, and would love to go climbing outside while I have the chance. We get a weeklong break in mid-May, so I'm hoping to go somewhere during then. I'm thinking Yangshuo/Guilin, but I'm flexible. I can speak some Chinese and would be able to navigate on my own, but am really hoping to find a climbing partner/local climber to go with.

Any recommendations, references or tips would be appreciated!

Hey Christine, I'm in a very similar situation. I'm leaving to study abroad in Hong Kong next week, and will be there through the end of May. I'm not sure if I'll travel as far north as Shanghai but if you find yourself near HK feel free to get in touch and I'd be psyched to meet up to climb!

Yess thanks so much! I had been looking at the website but didn't know who to contact once I got there.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
