Hey All-
I was wondering if anyone knew of a climbing guide for the Indian Peaks wilderness area (Just south of RMNP). I looked through the Gillete Books and could not find anything, so I figured I would see what the community here would say. I have seen the Indian Peaks page on mountain project, but am looking for something slightly more organized...I might just have to make my own before my July trip, but am feeling lazy.

Any ways I want to include as many routes as can be done in 14 days. Any help would be greatly appreciated.... I will be backpacking in as well... Maybe bring my friewnds alpacas to carry some of my heavy crap.....

I know Lone Eagle is a must..... I was also looking at Apache peak, Arapahoe Peaks, Mt. Toll?, Shoshoni Peak?

I will be starting at monarch lake- staying at Crater Lake, Pawnee Lake, and perhaps trekking to Mt. Neva- Lake Dorothy region, to columbine lake with a pickup at meadow creek resevior. I haven't decided where to end yet.... Maybe Back to monarch lake, maybe out toward brainard, maybe back over pawnee towards boulder.... Haven't decided..... It all depends on which way the climbing will be the best.

Once I reach crater lake I will climb this for at least one day (See Attached PIC..... Epic shorter multi pitch routes....

Thanks
BAMER

+1 on the Gerry Roach mention. He knows this area like the back of his hand. His writing is clear and accurate, in my experience. The book got re-published a couple of years ago after having been out of print forever.

Mt. Neva is fun: a mile of class 4 scrambling with a touch of low 5th class. Watch out for big, loose blocks common to most alpine climbing. Mt. Toll is fun, too: mostly easy, but some pretty 5.6 and a short, steep 5.7 variation around the west side rather than wallowing up a chimney.

I've drooled over that same wall you're looking at west of Crater. Have fun with it, and with Lone Eagle, too.

Be aware that Crater could be crowded in July. Hell, the whole Indian Peaks will be. So make your reservations as early as you can. And have a great time.

Reservations are done... Last time I was there... there were 7 people over the whole 10 day trip... 1 pair of climbers... We had one snow storm the day before we left, but other than that.... Amazing. Ill look into those and see about easier days doing those.

Drooling.... Yeah I have this and like 15 other shots that scroll through my wall paper... Its titled Climbing Heaven. I think 2/3rds are from those 2 cirques. The Upper Cliff on the right side looks incredible... I wish I was a Caldwell.... or could at least climb like one...

Bought the book on amazon.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
