Anybody who enjoys climbing, or dreams of climbing, in Southern France, please consider signing this petition to try to keep access open for a group of awesome climbing areas, called the "Route de Grimpe" ("road of climbs")in the Pyrenees, just north of the famous Spanish areas of Catalunya.

We just spent a few weeks climbing in the area this May, and it consists of many hundreds of climbs on dozens of excellent crags situated above vineyards and idyllic villages. If they were in the US they'd be the most famous limestone crags in the country.

Word on the street is that the authorities want to close it because they can't ensure everyone's safety. (Strange for a country with Chamonix, the death sport capital of the world.) They plan to chop the first two bolts and anchors off every route.

Here's the best English article I could find:
abc-of-rockclimbing.com/new…

And here's the petition:

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
