Bump for Sudah, a nice(great) person, an excellent climber and rumored to be an outstanding culinarian should you be so lucky as to partake in her cuisine.

Is this a hostel? Shared shower, kitchen, common areas for $XX /night?

You might want to put this on airbnb too.

I stayed with Sudha this weekend and wanted to leave a note about how awesome she is. I got in contact with her via her telephone number super last minute and she was ridiculously accommodating. Fun to be around and fun to climb with. If you're on the fence about contacting her, take the leap, you won't be disappointed. I WOULD recommend contacting her by phone if you can.

Whenever I hear about a climber communal home. I think of the story I read some time ago on Neice about Joe Szot. I never met him, but if you read up it's amazing to hear how many people loved him and were deeply affected by his passing. It sounds like a large part of that was due to the graciousness of him opening his home for climbers to come and stay.

RIP Joe Szot - The Bivy

If I think of all the countless nights, turning in early, packed up in the back of my Subaru... and to think instead of spending that time with friends or strangers, getting to know new people and strengthening the bonds with those you already know, what a different story it could be.

Just wanted to share this story, with those who haven't heard, because it really touched me. At the end of the day, what more do any of us want, than a place to dry the gear, a beer with friends, and somewhere flat to put your pad down.

The Gunks is one of my favourite climbing areas! If only I didn't live on the opposite side of the continent.

I'd love to check out staying out your place the next time I am there.

I stayed at Sudha's place this last Thursday. I did not get to meet her to verify her radness, but can confirm that the house is a good deal. The house has been furnished since her initial posting. It does not have a washer/dryer or TV, but looks like it can sleep a lot of people. I think I counted 8 beds or so, and many of them can sleep more than 1 person. It is in a very quiet area and the road to get there is fairly awesome to drive. I had never driven past the West Trapps parking lot, but that road is a lot of fun.
