Yet again a broken Climb X hanger photo came across my news feed so I figured I'd share.

Had to replace a copious amount of these. Luckily this one failed while cleaning a route.  It was at the first bolt.  All the ClimbX hangers were replaced after only being installed a year prior.  Most of the hangers, 90 in all, had a crack in the same area as the example in the picture.  Scary thing is, these are still being sold.

Ah well, at least the first bolt isn't important.

Having most of 90 bolts fail in one year is astounding and "Scary" is an understatement.  A modern double bolt anchor, something you don't even consider, could actually fail. I've heard ClimbX hangers were junk from China, but this is truly stunning.

Don't they make really shitty shoes too?  This is really disturbing...where have you seen them used? Are anchor management groups aware?

Did they ever do a recall on these? I still see them occasionally out in the wild. Do the Climb Axe line have the same issues?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.

Fixed Hardware: Bolts & Anchors
