BOULDERING COMP. (Saturday 26th) The V-Point Comp. originated at City of Rocks in 2008 and since then has spread to other Bouldering Comps. throughout the Nation. It's Free again this year but you MUST REGISTER .
It all starts with the OP's quote from 2012 regarding the Beanfest:
Very logical date. Super weak sauce planning the event on the same date as the Cor Boulderfest that's been around for almost a decade. Wow, so let the clash begin...
Then in 2013:

I can guarantee you Beanfest has been around far longer than the City of Rocks Boulderfest.
I wonder if these companies even know they're "sponsoring" this event.
Someone who went to his 2011 event had this to say and which I've heard similar things from others in the community:
Went to COR 2011, drove a long way, didn't see any organized fest, no prizes where given away... had fun anyway. That was a lot promotion for almost nothing. Where did the free gear go? Hope the sponsors are aware of this. Shame. Plus, where is the winners list for the comp. this year? Not hating, just being real... others should know.
In which the OP response is to attack and try to belittle:
"Being real" You made me laugh good. "Winners" ha... Earth to lococlimber: You must of missed the Registration part. Did you Register for the Comp? Did you even click the Registration link? Did you support the program or just want free gear? We were there. I talked to people from all over, just ask the Rangers etc. FACT: I've been doing this for 5 years now. How can you make such a foolish and uneducated claim? I doubt you were even there. How you missed seeing all of us is beyond me? BTW It's people like you who ruin my interest in doing this for the climbing community. I've worked my ass off to help climbers for over 20 years only to hear this crap... Thanks I noticed you just joined yesterday to go out of your way to tell me this. To bad you didn't put the same energy into helping the event be more of a success. Based on this fact you're a coward, shame on you! Mad Rock, La Sportiva and Evolv gave out Shoe Gift Certificates. Which were given to climbers who went to the event and participated. They would get a good laugh as well...Do your homework before uttering such worthless delusions. Sorry you didn't get any free gear. Better luck next year.
In 2012 the OP says he's been doing this comp for "almost a decade" but in 2011 he say's "FACT: I've been doing this for 5 years now." I guess half decade would have been more appropriate. So I wonder who is actually being real?
So does anyone plan to be out here until Sunday evening? I might try to make a detour by City of Rocks while driving back from Tucson, and then Hueco on Monday. I'm always on the lookout for partners in the region. It would be cool to have someone else to boulder with. -Sheldon
