BETA PHOTO: South Face

Description

Huge crag just west of Lucerne Valley, CA. I've heard there are some established trad routes, but still looking for beta. Been working on a couple projects out there. If you have beta please post it.

"Conflicts between Indians and white settlers over the rich lands of the San Bernardino Mountains culminated in the battle at Chimney Rock on February 16, 1867. Although the Indians defended themselves fiercely, they were forced to retreat into the desert. In the years following, the Indians' traditional mountain food gathering areas were lost to white encroachment.

Getting There

From Apple Valley take Bear Valley east to Hwy 18 and turn right. Follow Hwy 18 east for 5.8 miles and turn left onto High Rd, which is a dirt road. Follow it across the dry lake bed and pick one of the many dirt roads to get to the crag. If you pick the right route and are careful, a car can easily get to the base of it.
