BETA PHOTO: The right side of Chief Wall. Anyone have info on ...
A fairly new addition to the Ruth Lake area, the chief wall offers a few moderate climbs on both gear and bolts. While the good medicine wall is bustling with folks, one can often find solace here.
One hundred yards after the "Haymakers and Hibernators" sign on the the main Ruth Lake Trail take the trail that forks off to the left.
After a couple minutes traveling on the flat rock with lots of small rocks marking the trail there will be another fork on the left. Take this trail straight up to the cliff.

Translated as Red Cloud, this is a hard, continuous, and sustained line up pockets and shallow edges. Difficult to read, the short and sweet Red Cloud will keep your mind and body busy.Thin and tricky to start, Makhpiya-Luta climbs up and slightly left over mis-leading holds and thin edges to a small, troublesome bulge. Pass this and exit on more comfortable ground....[more] Browse More Classics in UT

There are definitely many routes in the Chief Wall area. Much more than are currently on Mountain Project, and harder ones, too! Not sure their ratings or names or anything, but easily an afternoon's worth of concentrated routes with good rock from 5.8 to 5.11 or so.
Also, if you happen to be backpacking in the area, I'd recommend going beyond Ruth Lake to Hayden, Jewel, or Lofty Lake(s) (not much further at all along the trail) for a more solitary and gorgeous experience.

Tons of routes here, I've heard it called the "Family Wall" as well. I may have left a pair of La Sportiva shoes there over Labor Day weekend. I don't know exactly the size, but they're small, like a men's 6-7. They're lace ups and are pretty aggressively curved. I don't know the exact model, I bought them used from IME in New Hampshire

Anyone have info on the routes that aren't listed on Mountain Project? We climbed a few today; I'd love to add them but have no idea on the names.
