Description

This is the biggest rock of this collection of small rocks which constitute Chair Rocks. It has a dozen & a half routes or so. Most of these are on the south and east faces; however, there are routes on all sides of this rock.

Getting There

This is the larger crag in the middle of the Chair Rock formations. It is just east of Spoof Rock and NE of The Slabbo. In the old days you could park just short of these rocks near a fence. Then, you'd hike 0.5 mi north and drop down into these rocks.

On the north side of Chair Rock. I did the first lead of this, but it was Scott "Zippy" Reynolds who really got the ball rolling on this. It was an old Dave Bell A4 route before Scott got it in his head to free climb it.It's on the right side and is composed of triple cracks. Like a tiny Shield headwall. The crux is getting from the first crack to the second and is protected by a bolt. ...[more]   Browse More Classics in CO
