From Albuquerque, NM
Feb 1, 2010
A buddy and I were scouting out Cabezon Peak (NW of Albuquerque) and though the roads were too muddy to make it all the way, we saw this other volcanic plug that piqued our curiosity. It's just about due west of Cabezon (the mountain, not the town) across the Rio Puerco a ways, and it's called Cerro Parido. I'll try to attach a picture below in case any of you have seen it but don't know the name.
I did a little poking around and discovered that the top of the climb is 4th/low 5th class climbing. The driving directions given on summitpost.org sounded like a route we tried today that ended at a gate with a "No Trespassing" sign on it. If any of you have been there, what route did you take? And if you climbed it, any thoughts on routes/pro/whatever? I'll keep poking around and see what I can dig up, and if anyone is interested, I can post any new findings.
