DescriptionCastle Crag is the most visible of the East Peak climbing areas as it can be seen from I-691. While there is little climber traffic in this area, there are a few moderate climbs to warm up for some of the classics in the area. Debris from the Castle Overlook can be troublesome, there are climbs named for this reason. Getting ThereThe Metacomet Trail passes by the crag but the best access is via the road from Hubbard Park in Meriden. Follow the road to the Castle and make your way to the base of the cliff on the gully trail (starts on east side of parking lot) or rap down. With some experience, you'll find all of the shortcuts in no time. |
