Cassin Stubai Simond Pitons & Carabiners 1950-60s
|
When I purchased a pile of chrome-moly pitons in 1970, there were these few old iron & steel pieces. I'm trying to clean out my surplus rock climbing equipment and thought these might make a good display for someone. I'd donate them or perhaps sell them, but I don't know much about them or where to start ... can anyone tell me if they are worth anything or who might want them for a museum collection or art project? |
|
I'll take them..sending PM. |
|
Roger, I would also take them and I live in Boulder as well. I also run Fixed Pin Publishing and am making a art piece with old pins. Roots did say it first, but let me know if that falls through and I'd be happy to set you up with some local guidebooks if you'd like. |

Those things are awesome. |

^they are awesome! |

Roots - my intention is not to mangle or otherwise destroy them if that's what you're insinuating. It's a visual display for the Fixed Pin office. But thank you for offering some of your own |

Found a bunch more stuff, like this Pierre Allain Carabiner. One of these days I'll have to auction this stuff off, as my family has no interest in this old climbing gear... some day... |

Still sifting thru my equipment room for historic relics, while I recover from surgery. I'm taking my time so I don't get rid of any stuff that I might still want for my personal collection. |

Check out Chessler Books, they have a lot of historical climbing relics. |

Looks interesting! |

Roger Harris wrote: OK, so I found this; it is a real relic: John Turner piton retrieved from Hesitation, Washbowl Cliffs, ADKs during a 1971 ascent. That cliff is, currently, being called "Upper Washbowl". The route is pretty nice. |
