Description 

Cartoon crag is part of The Quartzite Ridge to the south of the road and the creek. It has east and south faces. The south face warms up in the winter but the approach can be slick. This is not Eldo's finest climbing but offers some short easier pitches when under time constraints.

There are a dozen (baker's) documented climbs ranging from 5.3 to 5.8. The climbing is traditional. This may seem like a nice place for beginners, but the rock is quite fractured and loose in places. The south face seems more solid (safer). Also, the descent requires downclimbing (5.3) or rappel. Roping up to move to the rappel station (slings around block) may be prudent.

Getting There 

Park at the Fowler Trailhead. Look west, scramble up talus and you are there (east face). Approach time is approximately two minutes.
