Thompson Canyon MORE INFO >>> The gate to Thompson Canyon's southern end is locked and is no longer a viable option for short and convenient access. The standard access is now via the longer, rougher Davenport Lookout/Thompson Canyon route. New Mexico CRAG (NMCRAG) will continue to be in contact with the ranch owners and the Forest Service to see if it can resolve this issue. In the meantime, please respect the closure, spread the word and don't attempt to drive through the private ranch. Description 

Tucked away and off the the main trail, this wall see's little traffic. The entire wall get's morning shade, and the actual grotto climbs "Captain Hook" and "Peter Pan Flies Again" get nice continual shade in the summer.

Getting There 

About 200 feet left of the tower. Between Sleeping Beauty Wall and Midnight Pumpkin Wall. This one doesn't have a nice graded trail leading up to it, but there are a few small ill-defined trails to follow.

Captain Hook 5.11a  NM : Enchanted Tower : Captain Hook's Grotto

Despite the ugly appearance due to surrounding bird and/or bat excrement, this is a fun route. Start up poor looking rock to a couple of huge jugs to clip the high first bolt and follow small but positive holds up past the second bolt before trending left to the third bolt (crux) and fun moves on the exposed arete up to the fourth bolt.
