Canyon Lake area climbing.

So I'm new to the Phoenix area, and recently went up to the Canyon Lake area. It looks like there's a ton of potential, mixed amid a majority of very bad rock. I'm not finding a whole lot on the route finder for that area; I've looked mostly in the Superstitions and Four Peaks areas. Does anyone have any beta on that area, or maybe I'm looking in the wrong spot? Mostly, I saw a splitter crack near where the road accesses the lake, on a tall wall, on the left. Any info on that would be great.

Over the years a few folks have climbed stuff near the lakes. Generally the rhyolite is very soft in that area. There must be some goood rock but it is a high likelihood you will not find decent rock throughout the climb.

Try repeating the classic lines in the Supes to familiarize yourself with the rock and climbs. That way you can orient yourself to the better rock.

My favorites in the Supes: Flatiron (Field of Dreams & Sidewinder), North Buttress (Spiderwalk), Barks Canyon (Long Lead). Head to Zonerland for some classic sport too.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
